DWLLC Dishes and Dips
Welcome to DWLLC Dishes and Dips!
This food blog created by staff in the Language Media Center (LMC) to bring together members of the Division of World Languages Literatures and Cultures (DWLLC) and the Division of Interdisciplinary Programs (DIP) at the University of Iowa in order to share culinary traditions with the campus community and friends around the world.
This exchange of recipes is the first step in a process of building a teaching kitchen in the heart of the LMC, where students can learn about cultures and practice their language skills by making and breaking bread together. In the meantime, this blog is meant to serve as a virtual global kitchen, where we can exchange stories and cooking advice from across cultures.
Nothing brings people together like good food; in these times of physical distancing and hope for better days, when we make a friend or colleague’s recipe, we can feel just a little bit closer.
If you would like to give to the LMC you can do so here. Your contribution will go toward the development of our language learning kitchen.
Please submit a recipe to dwllc-clcl@uiowa.edu following these guidelines:
1. Your name
2. Your affiliation/title/role in life (doesn’t matter if you’re affiliated with the U of I or not)
3. A brief story about the recipe (e.g., “I once had this type of pie in the south of France and have been looking to replicate it for years)
4. The recipe and instructions
5. A picture and/or video you making the food (we can edit the videos for you if needed)
Language instructors: this is a great extra credit assignment for your students!
